The children of Lake House employees who excelled at the Grade 5 scholarship examination in 2021 and 2022 were felicitated at a ceremony organised by the Lake House Employees’ Benefit Fund. This programme was organized for the 21st time by the Lake House Employee’s Benefit Society and many institutions including National Savings Bank, People’s Bank, Sharama Vasana Fund, Epic Lanka, Ceylinco Sussex, Sri Lanka Insurance and Uswatte Confectioneries sponsored the programme.
Speaking on the occasion ANCL chairman Professor Harendra Kariyawasam said that there is nothing in this world that can equal education and a child should be complete with education as well as good character.
“All our newspapers are designed to suit the new world. We send the newspaper to your phone and computer. Everything has been digitized by now,” he said.
Before the start of the programme, the students along with their parents paid their respects to the statue of Lake House Founder D. R. Wijewardene.
The children posed for photos with ANCL Chairman Prof. Harendra Kariyawasam, Editorial Director Sisira Paranathanthri, Director Operations Manjula Makumbura, Director Legal Janaka Ranatunga, General Manager Sumith Kotelawala and Company Secretary Sudarshi Hewawasam were also present.
