Aranayaka landslide 2nd stage of relief activites

Following the adverse weather that impacted Sri Lanka earlier this year, the ‘Senehe Siyapatha’ initiative was launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Media, the Disaster Management Centre, the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited and Dialog Axiata PLC, to raise funds to provide relief to those affected by the disaster. The ‘Senehe Siyapatha’ initiative contributed over Rs. 50 million towards flood relief, and  provided 50 water pumps to the Disaster Management Centre to assist in relief work, and provided footwear to over 10,000 children affected by floods.

At the 2nd stage of relief, the ‘Senehe Siyapatha’ initiative provided houses for those affected by the landslide in Aranayake in the Kegalle district. The ‘Senehe Siyapatha Gammanaya’ consisting of 30 houses for families worst affected by the deadly landslides, built under the supervision of the National Building Research Organisation with the assistance of Ministry of Defence and the Army, Navy and Airorce .
